MACU Helps Feed Thousands

10/22/07 Oklahoma City- The Mid-America Christian University baseball team fed over five thousand people Saturday, Oct 13. The Evangels rolled up their sleeves and worked at the Regional Food Bank.

"It was such an amazing experience," Head Men's Baseball Coach Jason Blackwell said. "It feels good knowing that we helped that many people."

MACU packaged 1,974 pounds of chicken and bagged 4,456 pounds of frozen french fries, with a total weight of 6,430 pounds and a meal weight of 1.3 pounds per meal.

"I was very proud of the team," Coach Blackwell said. "They worked hard and enjoyed themselves at the same time."

The Evangels made an equivalent of 5,876 meals. The meals will be distributed to families, food shelters, and churches all over the United States.

The Regional Food Bank is an organization that helps the less fortunate.

The MACU athletic department encourages all of the sports to reach out and help the community.

"I believe it is important for the student-athletes to reach out and touch a hand," Athletic Director Willie Holley said. "I am proud of what the baseball team accomplished."

MACU Baseball Starts

9/18/07 Oklahoma City- The Mid-America baseball team is back in action for the 2008 season. The Evangels started practice at the end of August and have been working diligently ever since.

The Evangels are ready to make their mark in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Coach Blackwell did a great job recruiting, which will help the Evangels come right in and compete in the SAC.

The Evangels did a good job competing with the SAC last year, compiling a record of 7-13 against SAC opponents.

"We played well against the SAC last year," Head Men's Baseball Coach Jason Blackwell said. "We should do the same this year."

This Mid-America baseball team has the ability to open some eyes around the country.

The Evangels will play 6 seniors, 5 juniors, 5 sophomores, and 16 freshmen.

"I am very excited about the upcoming season," Coach Blackwell said. "I know we can be very competitive if we continue the great work ethic and desire."

Get ready! The Mid-America baseball team is preparing to do some amazing things.
