Places 16th in NCCAA National Tournament

Beach, Florida- Mid-America Christian University finished
16 out of 18 in the National Christian College Athletic
Association Division I Tournament. MACU played at the
Hombre Golf Club in Panama City.
On Monday, the Evangels
shot a 323 and found themselves fourteen out of eighteen
after the first day.
"We played
a tough course Monday," Coach Lind said. "I
thought the guys played well considering the condition
of the course."
After the first
day, Ryan McCabe led the Evangels with a 75; Dustin
Nelson shot a 79 and was the only other Evangel to shoot
in the 70's.
Kelly Miller shot
an 82, while Tyler Montgomery contributed an 87.
On Tuesday, the
Evangels struggled and shot a 338.
McCabe led the Evangels
with a 79, while Nelson contributed an 81. Bryce Lawerence
shot an 86 and Montgomery shot a 91.
MACU finished with
a score of 661 and placed sixteenth.
"We had a good
fall season," Coach Lind said. "I think we
are on track to have a very successful spring season."

Places Fifth in OPHSU Invitational

Okla.- Mid-America Christian University placed fifth
in the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Tuesday,
Oct. 2. MACU shot a team record 603 and placed one stroke
behind fourth place.
On Monday, the Evangels
shot a 311 and finished in eighth place after the first
day.
"We had a good
round," Coach Lind said. "It was the first
time in school history that we did not report an individual
score over 80."
Bryce Lawrence led
the Evangel after the first day with a 77; while Ryan
McCabe, Tyler Montgomery, and Kelly Miller each shot
a 78.
On Tuesday, the
conditions were better and the scoring improved. The
Evangels set a team record by posting a 292 and leaped
to fifth place.
"We have never
scored under 300 in a tournament," Coach Lind said.
"This was an excellent week for our golf program."
Dustin Nelson led
all Evangels in the second round with a 69. McCabe contributed
a 73, while Montgomery and Lawrence shot 75.
The Evangels will
travel to Panama City, Florida October 8 and 9 to play
in the NCCAA Division I National Tournament.

EARNS 2ND PLACE FINISH AT CENTRAL CHRISTIAN TOURNAMENT

McPherson, KS– The MACU Men’s Golf Team
earned runner up honors at the Central Christian Invitational
in McPherson, KS on Sept. 24 and 25.
The Evangels second place showing
is the highest finish for a MACU golf team in the program’s
short three year history.
The Evangels played well the
first day and after day one was only six shots off the
lead.
Day two was cold and windy; the
team could not catch the front runners, but managed
to hold on to second place be three shots, outlasting
SAC opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
"This is yet another first
for our young golf program, I was proud of the guys
and the way we played," Coach Lind said. "We
took another important step in building a great golf
tradition at MACU."
Individually, Junior Ryan McCabe
placed third and Freshman Bryce Lawrence had a good
tournament with a sixth place finish.
MACU will play in the Bethany
Classic in Bethany, KS Monday, October 1. The Evangels
will play 36 holes, with the first round at Salina Municipal
Golf Course and the second round at Salina Elks Golf
Course.

GOLF TEAM QUALIFIES FOR NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

City- The MACU golf team recently qualified for the
NCCAA National Championship Golf Tournament to be held
in Panama City, FL on October 8th and 9th.
Qualification for
the tournament was based on performance in fall tournaments.
Only the top 18 teams in the nation in the NCCAA are
selected for the National Championship Tournament.
"I was extremely
excited to learn that we had qualified for the National
Tournament," Head Coach Josh Lind said. "It’s
an honor for the guys to be one of the best 18 teams
in the nation in the NCCAA and to be able to compete
for a national championship."

Places Fourth in CBC Invitational
9/12/07 Conway,
AR- The Evangels placed fourth in the Central Baptist
College Invitational Tuesday, September 11. Ryan McCabe
shot a 142 over two rounds and placed first.
On Monday, MACU
shot a first round 318 and shot the same on Tuesday.
McCabe shot a first
round 74 and trailed by three strokes after day one.
On Tuesday, he would turn around and shoot a second
round 68, winning by three strokes.
"I am pleased
that Ryan was able to comeback on the second day and
play a solid round," Coach Lind stated.
McCabe received
first place medalist.
McCabe has won three
tournaments in his MACU career.
MACU finished with
a final score of 636 and placed fourth.
Dustin Nelson shot
the second best score for the Evangels with a 153.
Tyler Montgomery
shot a 172, while Kelly Miller shot 173. Bryce Lawerence
rounded out the team scoring by shooting a 175.
On Monday, September
24 MACU will travel to McPherson, KS to play in the
two-day Central Christian College Classic.
The Evangels will
play on Turkey Creek Golf Course.

Places Fifth in MACU Invitational
9/5/07 Oklahoma
City- The Evangels placed fifth in the first tournament
of the fall season Tuesday, September 4. Ryan McCabe
shot a 152 over two rounds to lead the Evangels.
MACU shot a first
round 324 and a second round 309.
"I was a little
disappointed that we did not finish higher, but we set
a school record for lowest round with a 309," Head
Men's Golf Coach Josh Lind said.
The Evangels struggled
in the first round with only one golfer scoring below
an 80, but responded in the second round with three
golfers breaking 80.
"We had a rough
first round, but I was pleased with the way we responded
in the second round," Coach Lind stated.
Ryan McCabe had
a tough first round shooting an 80, but came back strong
in the second round with a 72.
McCabe placed seventh
in the tournament.
"I was impressed
with the way Ryan kept his composure and had a good
second round," Coach Lind stated.
Bryce Lawrence was
second in the Evangel scoring column shooting a 79 and
80 for a total of 159.
The Evangels will
travel to Arkansas Monday, September 10 to play in the
Central Baptist Classic.
