New Conference, New Attitude

9/18/07 Oklahoma City- It is a new era for Mid-America Softball. The Lady Evangels begin play this year as a part of the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The SAC is one of the toughest softball conference in the country in the NAIA.

"We are excited to be a part of such a great conference," MACU Head Women's Softball Coach Jerald Lewis said. "We have the talent to be competitive right away."

Coach Lewis is recruiting the right way, bringing in quality student athletes with character, integrity, a strong work ethic, and talent.

The Lady Evangels are young with only two seniors and three juniors.

The fall season started in early September, with each day beginning with conditioning at 6:00 in the morning.

"The girls had a great attitude," Coach Lewis said.

The Lady Evangels have a busy fall schedule, playing four games against quality opponents.

MACU will travel to USAO on September 18th, Cameron University on the 22nd, Southwestern Oklahoma State on October 2nd and finish up at Rose State on October 9th.

"It is a tough schedule, but that is what we need in order to improve," Coach Lewis said.
