Okla- Jessica Chestnut broke the single match record
for kills Tuesday, Oct 30 when she dropped 24 kills
on the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles. The
Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels beat
the Lady Eagles in four games
“Jessica played incredible,”
Head Coach Samantha Lindsey said. “She was focused
and hit the ball well.”
The Lady Evangels had no trouble
against the Lady Eagles in the first two games, defeating
them 30-21 and 30-22.
OWU responded with a 30-19 win
in the third game, but that would be the only game the
Lady Eagles would win. MACU went on to beat OWU easily
in the fourth game, 30-21.
“It was like there were
two different teams for the third and fourth game,”
Coach Lindsey said. “I am proud of how the girls
responded.”
Chestnut added four blocks and
eight digs to go along with her 24 kills.
Emily Moore had a good game with
26 assists, 13 digs, seven kills, and two blocks. Meagan
Davis contributed a game high 22 digs in the win. Jocelyn
Mehlhaff had 11 kills, while Jennifer Roselius had seven
kills.
The Lady Evangels improve to
10-16, and remain 3-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference
play.
MACU will host John Brown University
Monday, Nov. 5 at 7:00.

Struggles in Texas
10/29/07 Lubbock,
Texas- Mid-America Christian University struggled in
Texas Saturday, Oct 27. The Lady Evangels fell in three
straight games to Lubbock Christian University and WaylandBaptist
University.
MACU lost to
Lubbock 22-30, 15-30, and 23-30; Wayland Baptist controlled
MACU 21-30, 16-30, and 25-30.
The Lady Evangels
struggled out of the gate in each game and could never
recover.
"We had
an opportunity to position ourselves in the Regional
Tournament, but we did not play well and lost,"
Coach Lindsey said.
MACU will need
to beat Southern Nazarene University to ensure a play-off
berth. MACU will play SNU on November 6.
Emily Moore picked
up 23 assists, 13 kills, and ten digs in the two games,
while Meagan Davis had 23 digs in two games.
Jessica Chestnut
contributed 18 kills in the two losses.
The Lady Evangels
fall to 9-16, and 3-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference
play.
MACU will travel
to Bartlesville, Okla. Tuesday, Oct 30 and play Oklahoma
Wesleyan University at 7:00.

Wins Big Over Bacone
10/19/07 Oklahoma
City- Mid-America Christian University won big over
Bacone College Friday night, Oct. 19. MACU dominated
Bacone in all three game, 30-5, 30-10, and 30-15.
"This is
a big win for our confidence," Coach Lindsey said.
"We are going into a critical part of our schedule
and confidence is a big part of getting through this
part of the schedule."
The Lady Evangels
jumped out and took big leads in all three games and
never came close to relinquishing them.
Jessica Chestnut
and Jocelyn Mehlhaff led the Lady Evangels with 10 kills,
while Emily Moore contributed 16 assists.
Jennifer Roselius
had six kills and four blocks, while Meagan Davis and
Chestnut led the Lady Evangels in digs with seven a
piece.
The Lady Evangels
improved to 9-14 and remain 3-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference
play.
The Lady Evangels
will play two key conference games on the road Saturday,
Oct 27. MACU will play Lubbock Christian University
at 11:30 and Wayland Baptist University at 3:30.

Dominates St. Gregory's
10/18/07 Oklahoma
City- Mid-America Christian University dominated St.
Gregory's University Thursday, Oct 18, winning in all
three games. MACU beat St. Gregory's 30-24, 30-21, and
30-22.
"This was
a big win for us," Coach Lindsey said. "The
win will help us in the conference standings and put
us in contention to make the Region VI Tournament."
MACU controlled
the match from the beginning and never trailed.
Emily Moore helped
lead the way with eight kills, three blocks, 20 assists,
and eight digs.
Jessica Chestnut
had a game high 13 kills and Jocelyn Mehlhaff contributed
10 kills.
Meagan Davis,
Chestnut, and Mehlhaff had 10 digs a piece, while Melissa
Thomas had nine digs and eight assists.
Jennifer Roselius
chipped in three blocks and six kills in the win.
The Lady Evangels
improve to 8-14 and 3-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference

Finishes Clearwater Invitational
10/14/07 Clearwater,
Florida- The Lady Evangels finished the Clearwater Christian
College Invitational Tournament with two wins and three
losses. MACU went 1-2 Friday and 1-1 Saturday.
MACU defeated
Baptist Bible College 30-18, 30-28, 30-22; and Meramec
College 30-28, 30-19, and 30-24.
MACU lost to
Northwood University 18-30, 25-30, 27-30; Point Park
University 31-29, 25-30, 25-30, 24-30; and Clearwater
Christian College 25-30, 17-30, 20-30.
"I would
have liked to have come home with more wins, but we
played some quality opponents in Florida," Coach
Lindsey said.
Emily Moore had
a good weekend with 33 kills, 93 assists, 9 blocks,
and 47 digs.
Jocelyn Mehlhaff
contributed 52 kills, while Jessica Chestnut had 67
kills over the weekend.
The Lady Evangels
are 8-14 overall and 2-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference
play.
MACU will host
SAC opponent St. Gregory's University Thursday, Oct.
18 at 7:00.

Upsets OCU
10/9/07
Oklahoma City- Mid-America Christian University upset
the second ranked team in the Sooner Athletic Conference,
Oklahoma City University, Tuesday, Oct. 9. MACU defeated
OCU 3-0.
"This is
a great win for our program," Coach Lindsey said.
"Our girls fought hard and they deserved this win."
MACU used strong
starts in all three games to come away with the victory.
"We were
able to jump on them early and that was the major key
in the match," Coach Lindsey said. "We were
able to fight off their comebacks in all three games."

Falls to John Brown
10/6/07 Siloam
Springs, Ark.- Mid-America Christian University fell
to John Brown University Saturday, Oct 6. MACU lost
to John Brown 1-3.
"We played
well in at times, but we still have trouble playing
good volleyball for a whole match," Coach Lindsey
said.
In the first
game, the Lady Evangels came out flat and lost 19-30.
MACU came into
the second game focused and looked to even up the match.
The game was back and forth, but John Brown outlasted
MACU 32-34.
The third game
was a must win for the Lady Evangels and they responded
with a 30-19 win.
The fourth game
was another must win for MACU, but John Brown came out
on top 25-30.
"Overall
we played well," Coach Lindsey said. "We made
some mistakes that cost us and could have made the outcome
different."
Emily Moore led
the Lady Evangels with 12 kills, 20 assists, 20 digs,
and 2 aces.
Jessica Chestnut
contributed 18 kills and 14 digs. Jocelyn Mehlhaff had
13 kills, while Jennifer Roselius had 10 kills.
Meagan Davis
had a team high 23 digs.
The Lady Evangels
fall to 5-11 (1-5).

Splits on the Road
10/3/07 Waxahachie,
Texas- The Lady Evangels split on the road Tuesday,
Oct. 2 against Dallas University and Southwestern Assemblies
of God University. MACU defeated Dallas in three games
and fell to SAGU in four games.
"It was
a little disappointing only winning one game,"
Coach Lindsey said.
In the first
match, the Lady Evangels played Dallas University.
The Lady Evangels
played three close games and persevered through all
three.
The first game
was back and forth, but the Lady Evangels picked up
a 30-28 win.
The second game
was much like the first game and resulted in a 30-28
MACU win.
In the third
game, the Lady Evangels strolled to a 30-24 win.
The second match
was a struggle for MACU, losing in four games.
"We could
not seem to carry the momentum from the first match
over to the second match." Coach Lindsey stated.
In the first
game, MACU came out flat and lost 17-30.
In the second
game, the Lady Evangels rebounded and defeated SAGU
30-28.
The second game
would be the only game that the Lady Evangels would
win, as they would go on and lose the next two games
23-30 and 18-30.
The Lady Evangels
are 5-10 (1-4).
MACU will travel
to Siloam Springs, Ark. Saturday, Oct. 6 and play conference
opponent John Brown University. Game time is 3:00.

Comes Up Short
9/27/07
Oklahoma City- The Lady Evangels came up short against
conference opponents Lubbock Christian University and
Wayland Baptist University Thursday, Sept. 27. MACU
lost in three games to Lubbock Christian and lost a
dramatic five game match to Wayland Baptist.
In the first
match, the Lady Evangels played Lubbock Christian and
came out flat.
In the first
game, Lubbock Christian beat the Lady Evangels 10-30.
The beginning
of the second game went back and forth, but Lubbock
went on a late run and defeated MACU 21-30.

The Lady Evangels
continued to struggle and lost the third game 18-30.
"We did
some good things, but we still have trouble coming out
ready to play," Coach Lindsey said.
Jocelyn Mehlhaff
led the Lady Evangels with 8 kills, while Emily Moore
contributed 15 assists.
The second match
was a classic, with both teams showing perseverance
and determination.
"We showed
a lot of heart in the second match," Coach Lindsey
said. "I know we were tired, but we fought hard."
In the first
game the Lady Evangels came out flat and Wayland Baptist
beat MACU 21-30.
MACU came alive
in the second, outlasting Wayland 30-28.
The third game
was a close match. MACU and Wayland shared leads and
lost leads.
Wayland was two
points up on MACU with game point, but MACU fought back
and pulled ahead 30-29. However, Wayland came back and
took the third game 31-33.
MACU controlled
the fourth game and forced a fifth game with a 30-23
win.
The fifth game
was back and forth, but MACU had the advantage at the
mid-way point.
"We had
struggled this season in the fifth game and it was good
to see us on top when we switched sides," Coach
Lindsey said.
Wayland would
came back and gained the lead on MACU. The Lady Evangels
would make it close, but fell short 12-15.
Moore had a great
game with 16 kills and 43 assists.
Jessica Chestnut
had a team high 18 kills, while Jennifer Roselius followed
with 17 kills. Mehlhaff had 15 kills.
The Lady Evangels
are 4-9 (1-4).
MACU will play
a tri-match on the road, Tuesday, October 2, against
Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Evangel
University. Game times are 5 and 7.
Lady
Evangels Lose in Three Games
9/24/07 Oklahoma
City- The Lady Evangels lost in three games Monday,
Sept. 24 against Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
MACU has lost two straight games.
"We did
not play well," Coach Lindsey said. "We seemed
very unorganized."
MACU and SWOSU
started the first game back and forth, but SWOSU went
on a 10-4 when the game was tied 14-14.
SWOSU went on
to win the first game 22-30.
The second game
was no different for the Lady Evangels, as they continued
to struggle. SWOSU jumped on MACU and they could never
recover, losing the second game 25-30.
In the third
game, the Lady Evangels jumped out early on SOWSU and
seemed poised to win the third game.
SWOSU answered
with a run and led the Lady Evangels midway through
the game. SWOSU took a comfortable lead, but MACU fought
back and made it close.
However, MACU
dug too big of a hole and lost the third game 27-30.
MACU fell to
4-7 (1-2).
MACU will host
Wayland Baptist University and Lubbock Christian University
Thursday, Sept. 27 in two big conference games.
Game times are
set for 5 and 7.
Lady
Evangels Pick up First SAC Win
9/24/07 Oklahoma
City- The Lady Evangels picked up their first Sooner
Athletic Conference win Friday, Sept. 21. MACU defeated
St. Gregory's University on the road in three games.
MACU controlled
St. Gregory's in the first game, winning 30-19.
In the second
game, the Lady Evangels continued their strong performance
winning 30-23.
The third game
was much closer than the first two. MACU came out flat
and St. Gregory's took advantage, as the game went back
and forth.
MACU kept their
composure and came out with a 30-28 win.
Jessica Chestnut
led the Lady Evangels with 16 kills and 11 digs.
Jocelyn Mehlhaff
led MACU in digs with 17. Emily Moore had 18 assists,
while Melissa Thomas contributed 10 assists.
On Saturday,
Sept. 22 the Lady Evangels faced Sterling College. MACU
fell to Sterling in five games.
The first game
was back and forth, but MACU would eventually fall 28-30.
The Lady Evangels
picked it up in the second game and cruised to a 30-22
win, but Sterling would answer with a 24-30 win in the
third game.
It was do or
die time for the Lady Evangels and they answered big
with a 30-26 win and forced a fifth game.
The fifth game
was all Sterling as they defeated the Lady Evangels
5-15.
Chestnut had
a big game with 23 kills and 12 digs. Emily Moore had
21 assists, 10 kills, 8 digs, and an ace.
The Lady Evangels
are 4-6 (1-2).
MACU will host
Southwestern Oklahoma State University Monday, Sept.
24 at 7:00. MACU fell to SWOSU in five games earlier
this season.
Lady
Evangels Split Weekend
9/17/07 Oklahoma
City- The Lady Evangels won a game and lost a game last
weekend. MACU defeated Bacone College in three games
Friday, September 14, but lost to Southwestern Assemblies
of God University in five games Saturday, September
15.
"We had
our chance to win Saturday," Coach Lindsey said.
"We just could not finish them off."
On Friday, the
Lady Evangels played Bacone and dominated from start
to finish.
MACU breezed
by Bacone 30-19, 30-20, and 30-17.
"We seemed
to do everything right against Bacone," Coach Lindsey
said.
Jessica Chestnut
led the Lady Evangels with 12 kills and 8 digs. Jocelyn
Mehlhaff contributed 9 kills and 9 digs.
On Saturday,
the Lady Evangels hosted SAGU, which turned out to be
an intense five game match.
MACU won the
first two games 30-25 and 30-23, but SAGU would come
back and win the next two games 22-30 and 23-30.
The Lady Evangels
played a fifth game match for the second time in three
games. SAGU jumped out to an early 1-7 lead.
MACU would climb
their way back, but they could not totally recover and
lost the fifth game 8-15.
Chestnut had
22 kills, while Jennifer Roselius contributed 12 kills.
Emily Moore led
the Lady Evangels with 13 kills, 5 blocks, 32 assists,
8 digs, and an ace.
The Lady Evangels
are 2-5 (0-2).
MACU will play
Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College on the road Tuesday,
September 18.
Game time is
set for 7:00.
Lady
Evangels Fall Short Against SNU
9/12/07
Oklahoma City- The Lady Evangels played Southern Nazarene
University Tuesday, September 11 in the first conference
home game of the year. MACU fell short in five games.
"We had
our chances to win," Coach Lindsey said. "The
girls played hard and that is all you can ask."
MACU started
the first game struggling. MACU fell behind early and
was never able to make it close, losing 11-30.
"We came
out flat and SNU took advantage," Coach Lindsey
said.
The second game
was much different for the Lady Evangels; they came
out focused and ready.
The game was
back and forth, with no team gaining more than a two
point lead.
MACU pulled ahead
late and squeaked out a 30-26 win.
The Lady Evangels
never trailed in the third game and pulled out a dominating
30-18 win.
SNU came out
fired up and looking to even the score. They jumped
out to an early lead and MACU could never catch up.
SNU won the fourth
game 23-30.
The fifth game
started much like the fourth game with SNU jumping out
to an early 2-7 lead.
The Lady Evangels
would find themselves down 11-14, but MACU responded
by scoring five out of the next six points. However,
SNU scored three straight points, and won the game 16-18
and the match 2-3.
The Lady Evangels
dropped to 2-5 (0-2)
MACU will travel
to Bacone College Friday, September 14. Game time is
7:00.

Evangels win Home Opener
9/11/07
Oklahoma City- The Lady Evangels played Hillsdale Freewill
Baptist College Monday, September 10 in the Lady Evangel
home opener. MACU defeated Hillsdale easily, winning
in three games.
The Lady Evangels
dominated the match from the beginning; behind a big
MACU crowd.
"The crowd
was amazing," Coach Lindsey said. "They really
helped us get fired up for the game."
The Lady Evangels
never trailed against Hillsdale.
"It feels
good to get a win," Coach Lindsey said. "We
have not played well the past few games."
MACU never let
Hillsdale get over 16 points in a game. The Lady Evangels
won Game 1 30-15, Game 2 30-14, and Game 3 30-15.
"That was
a good tune up before our game against Southern Nazarene,"
Coach Lindsey stated.
The Lady Evangels
improved to 2-4 (0-1).
MACU will host
Southern Nazarene University Tuesday, September 11.
This is the first conference home game for the Lady
Evangels.
Game time is
7:00.
Lady
Evangels Lose Conference Opener
9/5/07 Oklahoma
City- The Lady Evangels played Texas Wesleyan University
and Oklahoma City University Tuesday, September 4. MACU
fell to OCU in their first Sooner Athletic Conference
game.
"OCU out
played us," Coach Lindsey said. "They are
a tough team to beat."
MACU battled
Texas Wesleyan in the first game of the triad, losing
0-3.
"We had
our opportunities each game, but we could not capitalize,"
Coach Lindsey stated.
In the Texas
Wesleyan match, the Lady Evangels were ahead late in
every game, but failed to pick up the win.
MACU lost 26-30,
23-30, and 30-32.
Emily Moore led
the team with 18 assists, while Jessica Chestnut led
the Lady Evangels with 13 kills. Jocelyn Mehlhaff had
a team high 17 digs.
In the second
match, MACU struggled against OCU, losing in three games.
"They are
ranked #2 in our region and they are a very good team,"
Coach Lindsey said.
MACU lost 14-30,
20-30, and 26-30.
Meagan Davis
had a team high 14 digs, while Moore led the team with
17 assists. Chestnut had a team high nine kills, while
Mehlhaff pitched in eight and Jennifer Roselius had
seven.
The Lady Evangels
fall to 1-4 (0-1).
MACU will play
its first home conference game against Southern Nazarene
University Tuesday, September 11. Game time is 7:00.
Lady
Evangels Split in Triad
8/30/07 Seminole,
OK- The Lady Evangels traveled to Seminole Wednesday,
Aug 29 to play in a triad match between Seminole State
College and North Central Texas College.
MACU played North
Central in the first match and struggled. The Lady Evangels
committed 23 errors in the first game alone.
"We just could
not get anything going," Coach Lindsey said.
The Lady Evangels
struggled from the opening serve, especially with serve
receive.
MACU fell in three
games: 16-30, 29-31, 20-30.
"We went from
playing good volleyball the night before, to bad volleyball
the next day," Coach Lindsey said about the first
match.
MACU battled Seminole
in the second match and played much better.
"We finally
got it going," Coach Lindsey said.
MACU made some key
mistakes in the first game and fell 28-30, but that
would be the only game Seminole would win.
The Lady Evangels
would win the next three games and the match: 30-22,
31-29, 30-19.
Jessica Chestnut
led the Lady Evangels in kills, while Meagan Davis led
in digs.
MACU is 1-2 on the
young season.
MACU will play their
first conference game Tuesday, Sep 4 when they travel
to Oklahoma City University to play a triad match with
OCU and Texas Wesleyan. Game time starts at 5:00.
Lady
Evangels Show Perserverance in Season Opener
8/29/07 Weatherford,
OK- The Lady Evangels opened their 2007 season on the
road, against Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
MACU struggled early falling down 0-2, but won the next
two games before falling in the fifth game.
The Lady Evangels
were a man down in the first game and it showed. Coach
Lindsey started the game in a new rotation and it took
some time getting used to.
MACU fell down early
1-15, before stepping it up. The Lady Evangels began
to play better, but they were down too much as they
lost the first game, 16-30.
"We struggled
in the first game," MACU Head Coach Samantha Lindsey
stated.
The second game
MACU began to get into the flow of things and began
to play much better.
The game was tight
all the way through, but SWOSU pulled away late and
won 21-30, taking a commanding 0-2 lead on the Lady
Evangels.
The third game was
a must win game for the Lady Evangels.
The Lady Evangels
answered leading the entire game and taking the game
30-26.
"We finally
started playing together," Coach Lindsey said.
MACU still needed
to win the fourth game or the match was over.
The fourth game
was neck and neck throughout, but SWOSU took a 24-21
lead. However, MACU refused to quit as they scored nine
out of the last thirteen points winning the game 30-28
and forced a fifth game.
The fifth game was
a struggle for the Lady Evangels and could never recover
losing the fifth game, 8-15.
"It was disappointing
to lose the fifth game, but I am excited about our team,"
Coach Lindsey said. "I feel we can play with anybody
right now."
The Lady Evangels
fell to 0-1.
MACU will play a
triad match with Seminole State College and North Central
Texas University Wednesday, Aug. 29. Game times will
begin at 3:00.
