MACU is the only university in Oklahoma and in the Church of God (Anderson, IN) to offer a master's degree in the Spanish language. Mid-America's model for this leadership degree is the Apostle Paul's approach to sharing the gospel and church planting. A degree from a United States' university is considered to be very prestigious in many Latin American countries. An advanced degree and solid leadership skills can give these nationals the tools they need to become Christian leaders in their spheres of influence. These trained Christian leaders in business, government, education or vocational ministry can work within their culture to produce lasting change for the Kingdom of God.
MACU has reduced its tuition rates to reflect international economies in an effort to make this education affordable. In addition, the Executive Director for the Thomas School of International Studies is attempting to raise 25% of the students' tuition needs.
MACU graduated its first Master of Leadership in Spanish class in May, 2009, and the strategic plan is to add 20 new international students each year. To date, the Master's program has enrolled students from Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and the United States.
