Mid-America Christian University believes that any person with academic ability and motivation to learn should not be denied an education because of financial need. Therefore, the University attempts to help students and their families meet the cost of higher education through a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, employment opportunities, and other sources of aid. The Office of Student Financial Services administers programs in accordance with federal, state, and private agency guidelines as well as funds provided by the University. Funding may be based on financial need or may be based on academic, athletic, or other talent merit.

Finally, we recognize that a college education is a significant investment; an investment of money, certainly, but also of trust. The Student Financial Services Office stands ready to assist in helping you identify and apply for financial aid to make a MACU education affordable.

Applying For Federal Financial Aid

All federal grants, loans, and federal work study program funds are awarded based on the information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Instructions below will guide you through the application process. Make sure that you list MACU under the Information Release section. MACU's college (school) code is 006942. In order to receive federal financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA and submit it for processing. If you have questions about the FAFSA, contact the MACU Student Financial Services Office at 405.691.3800.

Finally, you must apply for financial aid every year you are enrolled as a student at MACU or any college or university.

Apply for a U.S. Department of Education PIN (Personal Identification Number) before filing your FAFSA On The Web. http://www.pin.ed.gov

If parent information is required on the FAFSA, your parents must also apply for a PIN in their name.

A PIN will allow you to sign your FAFSA application electronically.

Do not share your PIN with anyone!

Complete the FAFSA On The Web application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Step by step instructions are provided on the FAFSA website along with online help.

Once your FAFSA application is processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in approximately 3-5 days (if you provide an e-mail address).

If your SAR is marked for verification by the Department of Education, you will be asked to submit additional documents to the MACU Student Financial Services Office. You will receive information from the Student Financial Services Office detailing the additional required documents.

Once verification is completed, an Award Letter detailing your financial assistance will be sent to you. Follow the instructions to accept, reduce or decline any awards, and complete any required loan documents online.

MACU participates with the Federal Direct Student Loan program and if you are planning to obtain a loan to cover the cost of education, there two steps that you must complete in order to do so:

  1. Borrowers must complete an Entrance Counseling session.
  2. Borrowers must complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) (unless you have previously borrowed a Federal Direct Loan and have a current MPN on file)

In order to accomplish these two items follow the instructions below:

Title IV funds are administered by the U.S. Department of Education and include: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant or SEOG, Direct Loan (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, and PLUS – Parent or Grad), TEACH Grant, Perkins Loan.

Federal regulations require that Title IV funds be automatically applied to allowable fees such as tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees. However, Mid-America Christian University (MACU) must obtain your written authorization to apply your Title IV financial aid to all other charges appearing on your student account such as parking fee, book charges, health insurance, and other miscellaneous charges. To enable MACU to apply excess Title IV funds to these other charges, you must select “YES” on the Authorization statements below. If you select “NO” or do not complete the form, all outstanding or future charges will remain your responsibility. A financial hold will be placed on your account for any outstanding balance that will prevent future course registration or transcript releases until the account is paid in full.

This is a voluntary authorization and is valid from the date of submission for all periods of enrollment at MACU. You may rescind/revise this authorization by giving written notice to the Office of Student Financial Services (will not be retroactive).
