MACU Student Named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week

TylerMacIntoshsmall2OKLAHOMA CITY – One day after being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Mid-America Christian University sophomore goalkeeper Tyler McIntosh was named NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week September 24th.

McIntosh earned the award after notching a pair of shutouts the previous week that began with the NCAA D-I Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles on Monday, September 16th. During that game, MacIntosh made six saves that ended in a double-overtime 0-0 draw, handing the Golden Eagles their only second shutout of the season.

Two days later, McIntosh blanked Friends University with four saves in  his third shutout of the season.  He only needs one more shutout to match his total as a freshman last season.

At the time of the award, the Sand Springs, OK, native ranked third in the Sooner Athletic Conference in saves per game (4.40) and fourth in goals-against-average (0.96), and his GAA was tied for 36th nationally in the NAIA.

A big MACU congratulations to Tyler MacIntosh!
