YMCA Partnership
MACU has an agreement with the Earlywine Park YMCA for all of our traditional students. This membership allows traditional students full access to all of the programming offered by the YMCA during the academic school year. The Earlywine Park branch, located at SW 119th and May Avenue (less than 1 mile from our campus) is a $9.5 million, 65,000 square-foot facility built in 2005 and currently is the largest in the metro area.
The YMCA houses a gym, two swimming
pools, a fitness center, a teen center, two aerobic studios,
five locker rooms, a child-care area, a children’s adventure
center and a snack bar.
As part of our community service commitment with the U.S.
Department of Education, MACU has worked with the YMCA for
several years through our Federal Work Study Program. Our
students serve in the after school program, in summer day
camps, as lifeguards, as office workers, and other areas in
the YMCA. This work program has offered employment for our
students as well as a service to the YMCA and to our
community.
