Introduction to the Department of Public Safety
Mid-America Christian University is proactive in providing a safe campus for student, faculty, staff and guests. We hope you find this site useful as a tool for information on general security related topics, emergency phone numbers, parking, emergency procedures, as well as other information that we hope is of interest to you. Our campus safety and security philosophy is, that with everyone's help MACU will continue to be a safe environment for those on campus. Our hope is that those on campus will make good sound decisions to keep themselves, other people and their property safe while on campus.
Mission of the University Department of Public Safety
The mission for each member of the Mid-America Christian University Public Safety Department is to work in partnership with faculty, staff and students to affirmatively promote, preserve and provide a secure environment with a commitment to integrity, respect, fairness and service.
The Director of the MACU Department of Public Safety shall have the responsibility to ensure the provision of police services to the university community. The final authority for determining certain public safety conditions of MACU, identifying existing public safety hazards, and establishing the appropriate corrective actions shall rest with the director in cooperation with administration of the university. All matters affecting the public safety condition of the university shall be communicated to the director. In compliance with applicable sections of the Oklahoma Revised Statutes and by virtue of the authority vested in it by the President and Board of Regents, the MACU Department of Public Safety hereby adopts these rules, regulations, procedures, and instructions for the maintenance of public peace, safety, and order on the campuses and properties of MACU. All rules of conduct, policies, procedures, instructions, and philosophies are within established administrative authority, as provided by applicable statutes and are incumbent on all members of the university community. Corrections, changes, or suggestions should be communicated to the DPS manual coordinator, (405) 264-6461. In the event of an inconsistency or conflict, applicable law and Board of Regents' policies supersede university policies and university policies supersede college, department or lower unit bylaws, policies, or guidelines. The university reserves the right to add, amend, or revoke any of the contained rules, policies, regulations, and instructions or incorporate additional ones, with or without notice, as circumstances or the good of the university community may require.
