Internet
MACU has wireless coverage in all buildings on campus. Wireless access points have been placed to provide total coverage for all buildings and courtyard areas. To access the wireless network all you need is a laptop with an 802.11b or 802.11g wireless card. The wireless networks are open which means you can automatically connect to them if you have your wireless configuration turned on.
The resident halls are also configured with a direct Internet connection in each dorm room. To connect to the network in the dorm area student will need a Cat5 network cable. These cables are different than standard telephone cables. These cables can be purchased from most stores or are available for 50 cents per foot from the Office of Information Technology.
All computers accessing the MACU network will be filtered through the MACU firewall. This filtering process utilizes a content filter blocking objectionable content and track unauthorized usage.
MACU provides email addresses to all faculty, staff, and current and former students.
An agreement was reached with Google in January 2007 to host all student and alumni email addresses. The new platform will allow for email hosting, as well as additional functionality such as calendars, chat, and productivity tools.

Cable TV
Included as part of your on-campus-housing package, MACU provides a comprehensive package of educational and entertainment channels. All dorm suites have a cable jack, but you will need to furnish your own cable-ready TV and coaxial cable to connect to the outlet. For those who do not have a cable-ready TV, a converter box will need to be purchased.
Below is a list of the expanded basic channels available in the dorms.

Safe Usage
MACU requires that all computers connected to the MACU network operate a current antivirus application. MACU does not provide virus scanning software, but can make recommendations for purchasing these programs.
To help create the safest, Christian atmosphere possible, MACU utilizes a content filter which blocks objectionable content through the Internet. While it is not possible to block all sites we deem inappropriate, we make every effort to ensure the safe browsing of our students.
