Mid-America Christian University believes that any person with academic ability and motivation to learn should not be denied an education because of financial need. Therefore, the University attempts to help students and their families meet the cost of higher education through a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, employment opportunities, and other sources of aid. The Office of Student Financial Services administers programs in accordance with federal, state, and private agency guidelines as well as funds provided by the University. Funding may be based on financial need or may be based on academic, athletic, or other talent merit.

Finally, we recognize that a college education is a significant investment; an investment of money, certainly, but also of trust. The Student Financial Services Office stands ready to assist in helping you identify and apply for financial aid to make a MACU education affordable.

Applying For Federal Financial Aid

All federal grants, loans, and federal work study program funds are awarded based on the information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Instructions below will guide you through the application process. Make sure that you list MACU under the Information Release section. MACU's college (school) code is 006942. In order to receive federal financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA and submit it for processing. If you have questions about the FAFSA, contact the MACU Student Financial Services Office at 405.691.3800.

Finally, you must apply for financial aid every year you are enrolled as a student at MACU or any college or university.

Apply for a U.S. Department of Education PIN (Personal Identification Number) before filing your FAFSA On The Web. http://www.pin.ed.gov

If parent information is required on the FAFSA, your parents must also apply for a PIN in their name.

A PIN will allow you to sign your FAFSA application electronically.

Do not share your PIN with anyone!

1 (800) 4-FED-AID

Complete the FAFSA On The Web application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Step by step instructions are provided on the FAFSA website along with online help.

Once your FAFSA application is processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in approximately 3-5 days (if you provide an e-mail address).

If your SAR is marked for verification by the Department of Education, you will be asked to submit additional documents to the MACU Student Financial Services Office. You will receive information from the Student Financial Services Office detailing the additional required documents.

Once verification is completed, an Award Letter detailing your financial assistance will be sent to you. Follow the instructions to accept, reduce or decline any awards, and complete any required loan documents online.

Mid-America Christian University does not promote, prefer, or recommend any lending institution's student loan products. In order to assist our students in securing an education loan, we have provided a link below to a comprehensive list of Lenders who participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). Lenders are listed alphabetically, and general information concerning each Lender's student loan products, as well as contact information is provided for your convenience.

Once you have chosen a lender, you then need to contact that lender using the "Contact Information for Students" in order to complete Master Promissory Note (MPN). Once you have completed the appropriate MPN for your student loan, MACU will be notified by your lender.

Undergraduate students should complete a Federal Stafford Student Loan MPN.

Graduate students should complete a Federal Stafford Student Loan MPN. Graduate students may also complete a Federal Graduate "Plus" Loan application.

Additionally, parents of undergraduate students may complete a Federal Parent "Plus" Loan application. Contact your Personal Financial Counselor to determine if a Federal Parent "Plus" Loan is appropriate for you.

Note: many lenders offer other education loan products in addition to the Federal Loans listed above. MACU urges students and parents to exercise great care when considering a non-Federal, "Alternative loan," as terms and conditions may vary greatly from Federal Loans.

If you have any questions concerning what type of loan is appropriate for you, contact your Personal Financial Counselor at MACU.
