A Word From Dr. Riesenmy
Welcome to the MACU Healthcare Management Program!
You have chosen an exciting field of study! Healthcare is a critical part of our society and has an impact on every citizen. The business of healthcare plays an important role in many areas of the healthcare organization including assuring patient safety, quality of care, efficiency, high performance in operations and processes, and the safekeeping of patient information. The healthcare manager is responsible for creating a context where high-quality care is provided at a maximum of profitability and affordability.
What is your goal as a healthcare manager? Our mission is to help you reach your goals. Throughout your matriculation in the program, you will learn management science from a Christian perspective. We want to prepare you to work and lead your organization in grace and goodness with strength and purpose!
I want to connect with you! Please feel free to reach out to me and introduce yourself. I hope to work with you as your instructor at some point during your program of study. If you have a concern or a problem, I am your contact person. Please let me know what I can do to help you.
A few important things to know about your program of study:
- You should plan to set aside on average, 2-4 hours each day/night to study and work on your assignments. Most people need that minimum amount of time to adequately focus, read, and write.
- Most of the HCM courses include a project that will help you build the competencies necessary to be a healthcare manager. Be prepared to work from a non-academic perspective and use your business acumen in developing these projects.
- Your work experience (even those unrelated to healthcare) will add value to the discussions and assignments. We will make workplace applications throughout the program.
- Remember Matthew 21:22 " And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” During this journey, the Lord is your Best Friend! Ask Him for the time, energy, resources, and help you need to succeed. He provides in amazing ways when you ask!
Your time as a student will go by quickly! Enjoy this journey! It is a special time in your life. I believe you were called by Christ to fulfill a purpose with this degree. As you work and pray, He will show you every step to take in the journey!
