One MACU. ONE Community.

On April 13, 2020, MACU launched its One Community initiative as an extension of its long-serving practice of giving back through community service. One Community will provide resources to the greater OKC community as well as nationally by showing the love of Jesus Christ. This initiative will run as long as needed as our world battles and recovers from the COVID-19 virus.

What are our Initiatives?

01
Tutoring

With elementary, middle and high schools across the country going online, there is a need for one-on-one tutoring in our country. MACU teacher education students along with other math, science, history and English majors are volunteering their time to tutor students free of charge via Zoom. MACU students use Zoom accounts to talk with students and help them with their class work. Times can be scheduled for 30-minute blocks as needed, based upon availability. Due to high demand we may not be able to meet all requests. For more information about how to offer your services as a tutor or to request tutoring for a child, please email us at [email protected] or fill out the form below.

02
Reading

With schools across the country going online, elementary school teachers are overwhelmed trying to move classes online. MACU teacher education students along with English majors and MACU faculty are volunteering their time to record themselves reading chapters of books to classes of students as needed at no cost. We are more than glad to find out what book your class is reading and we will record us reading a chapter or chapters as requested. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested teachers can contact us at [email protected] or fill out the form below.

03
Support Sessions

With unemployment at record highs and fear rampant about the virus, stress is very high. MACU Master of Counseling students will hold group or individual sessions at no cost via Zoom to address the current needs in our society of fear and anxiety caused by the virus. These are not counseling sessions, rather we want to hear the needs of individuals and give generalized advice on how the field of psychology typically addresses these issues. Dates for these sessions will be posted as they become available.

04
Free Webinars

MACU is pleased to offer free, live webinars on topics relevant to people working from home, parents trying to help their children with school, resume writing, using technology, tips for how to get recruited in sports, small business advice, etc. Dates for webinars will be posted as they become available.

Friday, April 24th, 2020 at 1pm CST.
