At MACU, we believe that serving others is a greater expression of our Christian faith. We established the MACU Day of Service in 2016 and dedicated a day for our students, faculty and staff members to give back to their communities.
This year, we're inspired by our school mission to "Dream Bigger" and "Do Greater" with more opportunities to serve than ever before! This year, the Day of Service will take place on Saturday, September 22.
Where can I serve?
To participate in the Day of Service, you must register through our sign-up form. Please do not register your participation on the organization website.
You will serve in the Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity ReSale Store. The store is open to the public and proceeds from sales go to support Habitat's mission of providing affordable housing for deserving families.
The ReSale Store has requested assistance cleaning and organizing their warehouse and helping in the store. You may be cleaning new and donated items, moving heavy furniture, or organizing inventory. Duties are varied so individuals of all abilities can be accommodated.
Due to the nature of the work, volunteers MUST come dressed in closed-toe shoes. Habitat for Humanity also requires volunteers to the ReSale Store to consent to a background check and complete a liability waiver before beginning work at the site.
Volunteers must be 18 or older to participate in this event.
The Regional Food Bank is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Oklahoma. They provide enough food to feed more than 90,000 people each week - nearly half of which are children.
You will serve in their warehouse sorting and boxing donated food items.
Due to the nature of the work, volunteers MUST come dressed in closed-toe shoes. The Regional Food Bank also requires volunteers to register online. This is in addition to your registration for the Day of Service.
