Mid-America Christian University (MACU) is pleased to announce the 2026 iMpact Award honorees, recognizing six individuals and organizations whose
leadership, service, ministry, and commitment to others reflect the University’s mission to prepare people to do greater things for God and His Kingdom.
The annual iMpact Awards will take place Thursday, Oct. 29, on the MACU campus, officially kicking off Homecoming weekend. The evening will begin with a reception and dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by the awards program at 6 p.m. Hosted in the outdoor space behind Kennedy Hall, the event will celebrate those who have made a meaningful impact on the MACU community and beyond.
This year’s honorees represent a diverse group of alumni, a current student, and a community organization, each demonstrating the lasting influence of faith in action.
Lifetime Achievement Award — Rev. Steve Chiles (’79)
Reverend Steve Chiles, a 1979 MACU alumnus and longtime leader at Shartel Church of God, is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout decades of pastoral ministry, Chiles has demonstrated spiritual leadership, pastoral wisdom, and a commitment to sharing the Gospel and shepherding others. His life and ministry reflect a lifelong dedication to serving God and His Kingdom.
Heart of an Evangel Award — Chip Taylor (’97)
Reverend Steve Chiles, a 1979 MACU alumnus and longtime leader at Shartel Church of God, is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout decades of pastoral ministry, Chiles has demonstrated spiritual leadership, pastoral wisdom, and a commitment to sharing the Gospel and shepherding others. Young Alumni Award — Catherine Shaffer (’18)
Catherine Shaffer, a 2018 MACU graduate and Children’s Pastor at Crossings Mayfair, is being recognized with the Young Alumni Award. Since graduating, Shaffer has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service within her church and community, serving as an example of how MACU graduates can make an early and lasting impact in their fields of ministry.
Educator Award — Karlie Minson (’19)
Karlie Minson, a 2019 graduate who serves with Oklahoma City Public Schools, is this year’s Educator Award recipient. Through her commitment to educational excellence, student advocacy, and compassion, Minson exemplifies the calling of educators to shape not only minds but also
lives.
Community Impact Award — Earlywine Park YMCA
Catherine Shaffer, a 2018 MACU graduate and Children’s Pastor at Crossings Mayfair, is being recognized with the Young Alumni Award. Since graduating, Shaffer has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service within her church and community, serving as an example of how MACU graduates can make an early and lasting impact in their fields of ministry.
Evangel Impact Award — Bella Renda
The Evangel Impact Award recognizes a current MACU student who is already making an impact on campus and beyond. This year’s recipient, Bella Renda, is a senior studying Ministry Leadership and Digital Marketing. Through her academic pursuits and spiritual leadership, Renda demonstrates a commitment to serving her peers, advancing the MACU mission, and using her gifts to make a difference in the lives of others.
The iMpact Awards serve as an annual celebration of the alumni, students, and community leaders who embody the spirit and values of MACU. Through fellowship, music, food, and the recognition of these honorees, the evening provides an opportunity for the University community to celebrate the people and organizations making a difference on campus and beyond.
