Mid-America Christian University welcomed new students to campus during Welcome Week, kicking off a new year filled with opportunities to grow, connect, and discover what it means to do greater things for God and His Kingdom.
From move-in day to campus traditions, service opportunities, athletic events, and worship, the week gave new students a chance to experience the MACU community and begin building relationships that will shape their college experience.
The week began with residence hall move-in and the annual WOW Kick-Off, where students gathered at the Gaulke Activity Center to officially begin Welcome Week. Throughout the following days, students participated in a variety of activities both on and off campus, including trivia, bingo, line dancing, Chicken N’ Pickle, a night at Wheeler Park, Topgolf, and an OKC Comets baseball game.
Welcome Week was also an opportunity for students to put their faith into action through community service. Students participated in three service opportunities throughout the week, serving with the OKC Beautiful Project and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. These opportunities allowed students to serve the Oklahoma City community beyond campus.
Spiritual formation remained at the heart of the week. During the first chapel of the academic year, President Phil Greenwald encouraged students by speaking about how each person is called by God for a purpose. As students begin a new chapter at MACU, the message served as a reminder that their time at the University is about more than earning a degree; it is an opportunity to discover their God-given purpose and prepare to make an impact for His Kingdom.
As MACU continues to expand in a multitude of ways, the excitement surrounding the new academic year is evident across campus. With new students joining the MACU family and new opportunities continuing to grow, the University looks forward to another year of learning, serving, worshiping, and building community together.
This is only the beginning. As MACU looks toward the year ahead, the University remains committed to its vision of preparing people to do greater things for God and His Kingdom.
