Inauguration of MACU President Philip A. Greenwald Set for October

Mid-America Christian University has planned a weekend of activities celebrating the inauguration of the university’s fifth president, Rev. Philip A. Greenwald, Oct. 8-10.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, MACU will host a Community Fun Day on the university’s campus in south Oklahoma City. This event is free and open to the public, featuring activities such as a picnic, pickleball, stilt-walkers, mini-putt, inflatables, food trucks and more.

At 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, the campus will welcome GRAMMY-nominated Christian worship group Avalon for a special concert in the university’s JASCO Chapel. The concert is free and family-friendly, but an RSVP is requested at inauguration.macu.edu.

The weekend’s events will culminate at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, with the formal investiture ceremony. The investiture ceremony is a sacred academic tradition marked with an academic procession, guest speakers, worship, two special performances by Avalon and a presentation of the symbols of office. This will be followed by a presidential address by Greenwald, whose tenure began June 1, 2022, following the retirement of Dr. John Fozard.

A light reception will follow at 11:15 a.m. in MACU’s Student Center.
