MACU Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Mid-America Christian University (MACU) honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a series of campus and community events.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, more than 50 MACU students, faculty, and staff participated in the annual MLK Day Parade in downtown Oklahoma City, joining organizations and community members from across the metro. MACU’s participation reflected its ongoing commitment to unity, service, and honoring Dr. King’s call to collective action.

In addition to the parade, MACU hosted an MLK Chapel on campus, creating space for reflection, worship, and conversation. The chapel featured guest speaker Dr. Eric Anthony Joseph, a nationally recognized higher education leader and advocate for biblical diversity and fairness.

Dr. Joseph currently serves with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) and is a member of MACU’s Board of Trustees. He previously made history as the first African-American President and CEO of Multnomah University. With nearly four decades of experience in higher education, Dr. Joseph has served in leadership, teaching, and consulting roles at institutions across the country. His work focuses on justice, belonging, leadership development, and faith-based engagement, themes that closely align with Dr. King’s enduring legacy.

Through both the parade and MLK Chapel, MACU reaffirmed its mission to integrate faith, learning, and service while encouraging students to live out the values of unity, compassion, and servant leadership exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
