OKLAHOMA CITY — Mid-America Christian University (MACU) is partnering with the Consulate of Mexico in Oklahoma (Consulado de Mexico en Oklahoma) to expand educational opportunities for Mexican nationals and individuals of Mexican origin residing in the United States, with a focus on breaking down financial barriers to higher education for the second year.
The partnership is part of the IME Becas program, a key initiative of the Government of Mexico, designed to support educational institutions in the United States that provide assistance to Mexican students.
MACU and the Consulate of Mexico will award scholarships to eight students.

Erica Alvarez-Stanton, Executive Director of Admissions and Community Outreach at MACU, said MACU’s recognition of the needs of Hispanic students is personally rewarding and ultimately will benefit all MACU students and the broader Oklahoma City community.
“I am delighted to be partnering with the Consulado de Mexico en Oklahoma to provide this scholarship opportunity for incoming MACU students,” said Alvarez-Stanton. “Growing up as the daughter of Mexican immigrants with no more than a 6th-grade education, my siblings and I had to navigate the path to higher education on our own. A scholarship like this would have greatly impacted my educational journey, so I am grateful to MACU for committing support to these students and the Hispanic community.”
MACU President Phil Greenwald said MACU’s participation in this program reinforces its dedication to promoting success for all students, regardless of their background.
“We are honored to announce our partnership with the Consulate of Mexico in Oklahoma through the IME Becas 2025 program. This collaboration is a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities for Mexican nationals and persons of Mexican origin living in the United States,” said President Greenwald. “By working together, we are committed to empowering these individuals, fostering their integration and contributing to their personal and professional growth. We look forward to the positive impact this agreement will have on our communities and the lives of the students we serve.”
