PARAPROFESSIONALS/EMERGENCY CERTIFIED TEACHERS

Take the Next Step Toward Becoming a Certified Teacher

Oklahoma offers multiple pathways to earn teacher certification—but all of them require a bachelor’s degree. At Mid-America Christian University (MACU), we provide a range of degree programs designed to help you start or continue your journey in the field of education.

Just Getting Started? Begin with a Traditional Path to Certification

If you do not yet have a bachelor’s degree, MACU offers several traditional education programs that lead to teacher certification in Oklahoma:

These programs prepare you for a standard teaching certificate and include field experience throughout the curriculum. Field experience gives you the opportunity to observe, plan, and teach in certified classrooms—building your skills and confidence as an educator.

Already Working in Education? Consider the B.S. in Educational Studies

If you are currently a paraprofessional, adjunct instructor, or emergency certified teacher, you may find it difficult to leave your classroom to fulfill traditional field experience requirements. For those in this situation, MACU offers the Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies—a flexible, on campus or fully online degree program that:

  • Does not require field experience
  • Is ideal for those already working in an educational setting
  • Focuses on educational theory, instructional strategies, and classroom management
  • Equips you for a wide range of careers in education, training, and child development

Whether you’re just beginning your path to certification or seeking to grow in your current role, MACU offers programs that meet you where you are—so you can answer the call to lead and inspire the next generation.
