Gaulke Activity Center Court Named for Staton Financial Group

Mid-America Christian University has named the court at Gaulke Activity Center after Staton Financial Group following years of support and a significant financial gift.

Scott and Angela Staton, who co-own Staton Financial Group in Oklahoma City, are faithful supporters of MACU student-athletes.

The Statons began to support MACU athletics in Dec. 2017, after hearing the testimony of a men’s soccer player at a non-MACU prayer event. Since then, the Statons have sponsored several student-athletes each year through the Staton Athletic Scholarship. Last fall, the Statons approached MACU regarding the naming opportunity.

“We are incredibly grateful to Scott, Angela and the entire Staton Financial Group for their support of our student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Marcus Moeller. “Their gifts over the years have made an incredible impact on the academic and athletic opportunities within the framework of our University. I couldn’t be more excited to continue to partner with the Statons as we work to further enhance our student-athlete experience. We ask the entire MACU family to join us in saying an emphatic ‘THANK YOU!’ to the Staton Financial Group for this generous gift and their continued support!”

An official naming ceremony honoring the Statons was held Monday, Jan. 16 during the men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against Southwestern Christian University (Okla).

“From the first time I met some of the athletes here, I was impressed by their polite demeanor and the ways they carried themselves. Athletics is about winning, and MACU does plenty of that, but they also teach the most important lessons in life and they do it in a Christian environment,” said Scott Staton, President and Financial Advisor of Staton Financial Group. “This naming opportunity is a great way for us to find new ways to support Mid-America and specifically, the athletic programs. God has greatly blessed our company and we always want to find ways to give back and support worthy causes.”
